The practical version: Count backward from the date you want each meal or activity, not automatically from check-in day. Put the 180-day items on the calendar first, then the 90-, 45- and 10-day groups. Rainbow Reef is handled in person after you arrive.
Aulani reservation windows at a glance
| Window | Experience | Booking channel |
|---|---|---|
| 180 days | KA WA‘A Lū‘au; Laniwai Spa; Painted Sky | Aulani website |
| 90 days | Cabanas and Casabellas | Call (808) 674-6200 |
| 45 days | Aunty’s Beach House supervised activities; Pau Hana activities; Underwater Explorers; Makahiki; ‘AMA‘AMA | Aulani app |
| 45 days | Disney PhotoPass | Call (808) 674-6988 |
| 10 days | Fitness classes | Aulani app |
| Arrival day | Rainbow Reef | Reserve in person at the Rainbow Reef desk |
Every advance window is tied to the desired date of attendance. A five-night stay can therefore produce several opening dates. If you want a Makahiki meal on the third day, count back 45 days from that meal date.
Start with the 180-day group
KA WA‘A Lū‘au, Laniwai Spa and Painted Sky open furthest ahead, at 180 days. Those are the first reminders to set. Cabana and Casabella reservations follow at 90 days and require a phone call.
The 45-day mark is the busy one. It covers both table-service restaurants, several organized activities and supervised Aunty’s Beach House programming for children ages 4 to 12. If the trip hinges on a particular dinner or children’s activity, do not treat the whole group as an afterthought.
One stay can have several booking mornings
Aulani’s table is based on the date of each experience. Make a short list by day, then add the correct lead time to each item. That avoids opening the app 45 days before check-in and assuming every later date is already available.
The app handles most 45-day bookings
Download the Aulani app before the first reservation date. It is the booking channel for Aunty’s Beach House supervised activities, Pau Hana activities, Underwater Explorers, Makahiki, ‘AMA‘AMA and fitness classes.
Book on the website
Use the Aulani website for the 180-day group: KA WA‘A Lū‘au, Laniwai Spa and Painted Sky.
Call for shaded retreats
Cabana and Casabella reservations open at 90 days by phone at (808) 674-6200.
Call PhotoPass separately
Disney PhotoPass opens at 45 days, but its booking channel is (808) 674-6988 rather than the app.
Rainbow Reef begins on arrival day
Rainbow Reef does not use an advance app window in the current instructions. Reserve in person at the Rainbow Reef desk from the day you arrive through the desired attendance date. Aulani says to line up at 8:00 a.m. to secure a spot.
That makes Rainbow Reef a day-of-arrival planning item. If it matters to the group, decide before the trip who will go to the desk and which dates could work. Availability is still limited.
Booking windows do not guarantee availability
An opening date is permission to try, not a reservation guarantee. Aulani notes that experiences can be unavailable, capacity can be limited, and offerings can change or be canceled without notice. Check the current Aulani booking table before each window opens, then confirm the details shown during booking.
Also review the day’s offerings in the Aulani app after arrival. That is where a neat spreadsheet meets vacation reality.
