Your Disney World Resort hotel stay gives you access to the pools at your resort. It does not give you a pass to try every hotel pool on property. A few connected resort groups share pools, so check your specific hotel before walking over in your swimsuit.
That distinction matters if you are choosing a hotel for its pool. A dinner reservation at another resort, a visit with relatives staying there or Disney Vacation Club membership alone does not open its pool gate.
Which resort pools can you use?
Start with the pools at the hotel on your reservation. Disney generally limits resort pools to registered overnight guests. Day visitors may eat, shop or meet you at a resort, but they cannot use its pool. Have your room key or linked MagicBand with you because a pool gate may require it.
These connected resort groups share pools:
- All-Star Movies, Music and Sports: Guests at one All-Star resort may use the pools at the other two All-Star resorts.
- Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside: Guests at either resort may use Doubloon Lagoon and the Riverside pools, including Ol’ Man Island.
- Yacht Club and Beach Club: Guests at these sister resorts share Stormalong Bay and the leisure pools in the complex.
- Animal Kingdom Lodge: Guests staying in the Jambo House and Kidani Village areas may use the pools at both.
Ask your front desk before making a trip between sister resorts. Access can change with capacity, refurbishment or operations. The separate Disney Vacation Club pool-hopping benefit remains suspended. Check with Member Services before relying on a DVC exception.
Feature pool or leisure pool?
Most families should look at their own resort’s feature pool first. That is usually where the slide, splash area, games and pool bar are. A leisure pool is often closer to a guest-room building and has less activity. It can be the easier choice when you have only an hour between park time and dinner.
Leisure pools are open to all ages. “Quiet” describes the calmer setting. If your group needs a slide, a zero-entry edge or a separate play area, check the exact pool page before booking. Those features are not standard at every hotel.

At a large resort, the closest pool may be more useful than the headline pool. A walk back to the room for dry clothes can turn a short swim into a long detour. If pool time is central to your trip, compare the pool location with your room area on the resort map before choosing a room category.
How should you plan a pool day?
- Check that day’s hours. Pool hours and lifeguard coverage vary by pool and can change. Look at the posted sign or ask the resort before promising children a late swim.
- Pick one realistic block. A morning at the resort or a midday park break gives you time to swim, dry off and change. A pool visit squeezed between two fixed reservations usually feels rushed.
- Pack for the walk back. Bring swimsuits, sunscreen, sandals, a dry change of clothes and any flotation gear your family uses. Complimentary towels are available at Disney resort pools.
- Build in a weather backup. Lightning can close pools even when it is not raining where you are. Follow the lifeguards’ instructions and have an indoor activity ready.
- Check the activity schedule. Feature pools may host games or other recreation. If you want a calmer swim, choose a leisure pool or a different time.
Children still need active adult supervision. Check the posted rules for slides, play areas and flotation devices; height limits at children’s water play areas vary by pool. Ask a Cast Member about accessibility equipment or a specific family need before traveling across the resort.
What should you verify before the trip?
Open your hotel’s Recreation tab for its current pool descriptions and activity schedule. Recheck shortly before arrival if a particular slide or feature pool is the reason you booked. Hours, maintenance work and access procedures can change.
