Disneyland Resort has a free outdoor picnic area just outside the main entrance to Disneyland Park. You do not need park admission to use it. Tables, chairs and shade umbrellas are available, and lockers sit nearby for food, utensils and picnic gear.

You may also bring food into Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, subject to the resort’s bag, cooler, ice and glass rules.

Where is the Disneyland picnic area?

The picnic area is outside the main entrance to Disneyland Park, before the admission gates. The official map above marks the circular seating area with red umbrellas.

That location makes it useful for a meal before entering either park or for anyone meeting a group without buying a park ticket. Seating is open-air. Treat the tables as first come, first served and keep a backup plan for busy meal periods.

Are there lockers nearby?

Yes. Lockers are next to the picnic area. They can hold food, utensils and picnic gear, but the resort does not promise refrigeration. Use a reusable ice pack when food needs to stay cold, and check the locker size and current price when you arrive.

Can you bring outside food into Disneyland?

Yes. Guests may bring food into the Disneyland Resort theme parks. Tell a Security Cast Member about food items when you enter.

Plan to serve the food as packed. Cast Members cannot store, prepare, cook or reheat food brought by guests. Pack utensils, napkins and anything else you will need to eat it safely.

How large can a cooler or bag be?

Suitcases, bags, coolers and backpacks may not exceed 24 inches long by 15 inches wide by 18 inches high, whether or not they have wheels.

Loose ice and dry ice are not allowed in those containers. Disneyland recommends reusable ice packs. A soft-sided cooler can be easier to carry through security and fit into a locker, as long as it stays within the size limit.

Can you bring glass containers?

Glass containers are generally prohibited. Small containers such as baby food jars are an exception. Transfer drinks, sauces and leftovers into plastic or another non-glass container before leaving home.

A practical picnic packing plan

  • Measure the cooler or backpack before the trip, including wheels and handles.
  • Use sealed, non-glass containers that will not leak in a locker or bag.
  • Choose reusable ice packs instead of loose or dry ice.
  • Bring utensils, napkins and wipes. Cast Members cannot prepare or reheat your meal.
  • Keep a simple snack in your park bag even if the larger meal stays in a locker.
  • Use the picnic area before entering the parks when you want a relaxed meal without carrying everything through security.
