Universal Orlando does not allow general outside food and drinks. Current exceptions cover bottled water up to two liters per guest, food needed for medical or special dietary reasons, medically indicated nutritional supplements, and baby food or formula.
A small cooler can come with you, but it must be soft-sided and smaller than 8.5 inches wide by 6 inches high by 6 inches deep. Anything you pack must be ready to eat or drink because accepted food cannot require heating or refrigeration.

The two-liter rule is written per guest, not per bag. If several people share one backpack, keep track of the water total for the group before leaving the hotel or car.
The cooler has to be very small
Universal permits only a soft-sided cooler smaller than 8.5 by 6 by 6 inches. Measure the packed cooler, including bulging pockets and handles that prevent it from keeping its shape. A compact lunch bag may fit. A family picnic cooler probably will not.
The cooler rule does not expand the food exceptions. Its contents still need to be bottled water or food covered by a medical, special-diet or baby-food exception.
Food cannot require heating or refrigeration
Pack items that are ready to use at the temperature you carry them. Do not build the day around a restaurant or Team Member heating, chilling, preparing or storing food brought from outside.
Leave alcohol, glass and cannabis behind
Alcohol, drinks containing alcohol, marijuana, items containing cannabis, cannabis paraphernalia and glass are prohibited. A sealed container does not create an exception.
Outside beverages are limited to bottled water. Buy soda, juice, sports drinks or coffee after screening if you want them during the day.
Your bag is screened before CityWalk or the parks
Every visitor passes through metal detection. Bags, backpacks, purses, packages and other personal items may go through X-ray screening or an additional inspection before entry to CityWalk or the theme parks.
Put accepted food and drink where security can see it. A crowded bag with unlabeled containers takes longer to explain and makes it harder to separate an allowed exception from the rest of the day’s gear.
CityWalk is part of the same arrival process. Walking there first does not avoid the screening or turn a prohibited item into an accepted one.
Pack medical and special-diet food for easy inspection
You may bring food required for medical purposes, medically indicated nutritional supplements and food for special dietary needs. That is the useful exception for allergies, intolerances and other diets that cannot be handled reliably with a standard park meal.
Keep the food together, retain the original label when practical, and bring only what you can carry safely without heating or refrigeration. If the item, container or storage method is unusual, contact Universal Guest Services before the visit rather than sorting it out at the screening table.

Baby food and formula are accepted
You may bring baby food and baby formula. Pack feeding items together and choose a setup that does not depend on heating or refrigeration inside the destination.
A soft-sided baby-food cooler still has to fit the published cooler limit. The exception covers the food, but it does not remove the cooler-size rule or security inspection.
Check the bag before leaving
- Count bottled water and keep the total at or below two liters per guest.
- Confirm every outside food item fits the medical, special-diet, nutritional-supplement or baby-food exception.
- Measure the packed cooler and make sure it is soft-sided and smaller than 8.5 by 6 by 6 inches.
- Remove glass, alcohol and cannabis products.
- Choose food that needs neither heating nor refrigeration.
- Place food and drinks where they can be inspected without emptying the whole bag.

Can you bring snacks into Universal Orlando?
Ordinary snacks are prohibited unless an exception applies. You may bring snacks required for medical purposes, medically indicated nutritional supplements, food needed for a special diet, or baby food.
Can you bring a sandwich into Universal Orlando?
Only if it fits a medical or special-diet exception. A regular packed lunch is prohibited.
Can you bring water into Universal Orlando?
Yes. Bottled water is accepted up to a maximum of two liters per guest.
Can you bring a reusable water bottle?
Bottled water is allowed under the current policy, and official packing guidance recommends a refillable bottle. For the easiest screening, bring it empty if the bottle material or size could raise a question, then refill it inside.
