Disney's Star Wars calendar gets busy on May 22. That is when the new Mandalorian and Grogu mission opens on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disneyland Park in Anaheim and Disney's Hollywood Studios, the same day the Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu film arrives in theaters.
The ride update leads the May 22 lineup, and Disney has several other Star Wars pieces around it: BDX droids at Disneyland, a limited-time Grogu projection moment, food, sippers, buckets, PhotoPass Magic Shots, merchandise, international ride notes, and Disney Cruise Line spaces.
The May 22 Smugglers Run update
The new mission starts with Hondo Ohnaka sending crews toward Tatooine. Disney says the job involves three bounties: two Imperial officers and a pirate. Mando and Grogu are part of the chase, and the Razor Crest joins the action outside the Falcon.
After Tatooine, the flight can branch toward three locations: Cloud City on Bespin, the city-planet Coruscant, or the wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor. The same cockpit now has more possible outcomes.
What each cockpit role does now
Pilots still split the steering. The left pilot controls side-to-side movement and has a boost button nearby. The right pilot handles vertical movement and the jump to hyperspace. If your crew wants a clean score, pilots need to resist the urge to treat the Falcon like a shopping cart with fireworks strapped to it.
Gunners can choose automatic or manual mode. Automatic is friendlier for first-timers because it handles more targeting work. Manual gives experienced riders more control, with high, middle, and low targeting zones. Either way, Disney says missiles can appear at select times, so gunners should keep watching their panels instead of watching only the big screen.
Engineers get the flashiest new job. One engineer can call Grogu in the Razor Crest, repair the ship, grab cargo crates with a tractor beam, and in the new mission, one randomized engineer chooses the crew's next destination after the Tatooine chase. Yes, the back row suddenly has power.
The three possible destinations
Bespin sends crews through the skies near Cloud City, with TIE fighters and gas haulers crowding the route. Coruscant is the city-flight option, with civilian traffic, tunnels, and neon around the Uscru Entertainment District. Endor is the messier one, with the second Death Star wreckage making the flight path feel tight and cluttered.
Disney says crates can contain different finds when Hondo opens them back on Batuu, including galactic credits, kyber crystals, or baby rancors. The cargo haul affects the score, giving engineers another role beyond ship repairs.
Disneyland: the busiest Star Wars stack
Disneyland has the densest list around the May 22 window. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge already has Rise of the Resistance, Smugglers Run, character sightings, Oga's Cantina, Docking Bay 7, Ronto Roasters, Milk Stand, Kat Saka's Kettle, Droid Depot, Savi's Workshop, Dok-Ondar's, and the rest of Black Spire Outpost's retail maze.
The new pieces sit on top of that. BDX Droids Red, Oskar, and Grek return to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge on May 22, with Disney saying they will appear at Black Spire Station in a new way. The Curious Child also plays for a limited time after Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga, with Grogu testing his ability to recall memories from his travels with Mando.
Fire of the Rising Moons lets guests watch Disneyland fireworks from inside Batuu, with Star Wars music layered over the show.
Walt Disney World: Galaxy's Edge plus Star Tours
At Walt Disney World, the Star Wars day still centers on Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios. The updated Smugglers Run mission joins Rise of the Resistance, Star Tours, character sightings, the Play Disney Parks Datapad, Docking Bay 7, Oga's Cantina, Ronto Roasters, Milk Stand, Kat Saka's Kettle, and the land's shops.
The new mission should pull extra early traffic toward the Falcon. Rise of the Resistance already drives its own crowd pattern. If both rides matter, start with whichever has the weaker wait-time outlook that morning, then use food or Datapad time to avoid bouncing across the park just because the Falcon posted a spicy number for a bit.
Food, buckets, PhotoPass, and merchandise
Disney's Mandalorian and Grogu push includes food and collectibles at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World. Grogu Cookies are listed for both coasts. Walt Disney World also gets Sweet-and-Spicy Puffer Pig Pasta. The Mandalorian and Grogu Jetpack Sipper and BDX Droid Bucket are listed for both resorts, with a limit of two per person, per transaction, while supplies last.
At Walt Disney World, the BDX Droid Bucket now has a short app-based release window. WDW News Today reported that a limited quantity will be sold at Disney's Hollywood Studios from May 22 through May 24 through My Disney Experience mobile order, under the Disney's Hollywood Studios Souvenir Release listing. The reported pickup area is across from the Milk Stand in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
Merchandise is spread across park shops and Disney Springs or Downtown Disney stops. Disney named Tatooine Traders, Mission: SPACE Cargo Bay, Star Wars Galactic Outpost, and World of Disney at Walt Disney World, plus The Star Trader, Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, Star Wars Trading Post, and World of Disney at Disneyland Resort.
PhotoPass Magic Shots are also part of the rollout for a limited time. Disney says guests may find them near the Millennium Falcon, the Marketplace, the A-Wing, Droid Depot, Tomorrowland at Disneyland, Disney Springs, Discoveryland at Disneyland Paris, and select Disney Cruise Line experiences.
Star Wars beyond the U.S. parks
Disneyland Park in Paris has Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, Star Tours: L'Aventure Continue, Star Traders, Starport, and Star Wars-themed snacks in Discoveryland. Hong Kong Disneyland has Hyperspace Mountain and Space Traders. Tokyo Disneyland has Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, with guaranteed Mandalorian and Grogu scenes through June 30, 2026, according to Disney.
Disney Cruise Line keeps Star Wars in youth spaces and adult spaces. Disney Dream has Star Wars: Millennium Falcon in Disney's Oceaneer Club. Disney Fantasy has Star Wars: Command Post. Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny have Star Wars: Cargo Bay. Disney Wish also has Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, an adult-exclusive bar with galaxy-viewing windows and themed drinks.
How to plan the day
If you are visiting on or near May 22, treat Smugglers Run like a refreshed attraction. A new mission tied to a major film date will pull fans who might otherwise skip a reride.
At Disneyland, keep Galaxy's Edge as a block instead of a quick stop. Ride the Falcon, watch for BDX droids, check the Star Wars Trading Post if you want merch, and consider staying for the nighttime projection and fireworks pieces if your group can handle the late finish.
At Hollywood Studios, do not build the whole morning around one perfect Falcon wait. The ride has six-seat cabins and decent throughput, but the opening-week curiosity spike can be jumpy. Watch the app, keep nearby food and Star Tours in the mix, and do not let one number drag you from Sunset Boulevard to Batuu and back three times.
Collectors should move earlier for sippers, buckets, posters, limited merch, and LEGO-style tie-ins. Supply can disappear faster than standby waits.
