Grogu Mode replaces Chewie Mode on Smugglers Run

The May 22 Mandalorian update has a hidden button sequence that changes the cockpit audio for riders in the gunner seats.

The new Mandalorian and Grogu mission is now flying on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park in Anaheim. The West Coast version is running the update too, and early riders have already found its hidden cockpit trick.

Grogu Mode changes the ride's audio so crews hear Grogu throughout the mission. It takes the place of the old Chewie Mode, the fan-favorite hidden setting that swapped Hondo Ohnaka's normal flight chatter for Chewbacca.

The button sequence sits with the two gunners in the middle row. Attractions Magazine reported that both gunners need to fasten their seatbelts, hold the rear white square button in the row of four, and press the round station button before anyone else activates a cockpit position. WDW News Today also filmed the mode at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

If the sequence works, the cockpit lights flash green and Grogu appears on the Falcon's communication screen. The mission still follows the new Mandalorian path, but the cabin gets more Grogu reactions and sounds during the flight.

The bigger ride update

The new mission puts crews on a bounty hunt with Din Djarin and Grogu. The flight starts on Tatooine, then branches toward Bespin, Coruscant, or the Death Star wreckage near Endor.

The update also gives engineers more to do. They choose which bounty path the crew follows, work a tractor beam, and can call Grogu from the cockpit during the mission.

For guests who want the regular new mission first, Grogu Mode is optional. The hidden version changes the atmosphere inside the cabin, not the attraction's public opening date, Lightning Lane access, or height requirement.
