Dorney Park has delayed Wildwater Kingdom's 2026 opening to Saturday, May 30, after forecasted weather kept the Allentown water park closed throughout Memorial Day weekend.
Dorney Park closed Wildwater Kingdom May 23, 24, and 25, according to the official opening-day notice. NBC10 Philadelphia reported that Dorney Park will hold the water park's opening until May 30.
Wildwater Kingdom had been scheduled to start its season during the holiday weekend. The amusement park side of Dorney Park remained available while the water park stayed closed.
The delay follows a rough weather weekend for several regional water parks. Cedar Point Shores moved its 2026 opening to May 30, Hurricane Harbor New Jersey closed its planned opening weekend, and Carolina Harbor at Carowinds lost its May 23 opening day to storms.
Wildwater Kingdom is a 20-acre water park included with Dorney Park admission during its operating season. The lineup includes Python Plummet, Wildwater Cove, Wildwater River, Seaside Splashworks, Tidal Wave Cafe, and the 21 And Colder drink location.
The original 2026 opening announcement from Amusement Today put Wildwater Kingdom's season start on May 23, with park manager Kim Solis saying the water park is where many families make summer memories together.
