Disney Parks released a new Disney Unscripted episode on May 28 that goes behind the Mandalorian and Grogu mission now running on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park in Anaheim.

The 21-minute episode, titled A New Mission Begins: Inside Smugglers Run Featuring The Mandalorian & Grogu, follows Disney cast members, Walt Disney Imagineering, and Lucasfilm as the teams bring Din Djarin and Grogu into the Falcon cockpit.

Disney Parks says the episode covers story development, sound design, and new tasks for pilots, gunners, and flight engineers. The new ride mission opened May 22, the same day Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu arrived in theaters.

New Smugglers Run Mission Features Mandalorian and Grogu

The new Smugglers Run mission begins on Tatooine, where crews join the Mandalorian and Grogu on a bounty hunt for Hondo Ohnaka. Flight engineers can send the Falcon toward Bespin, Coruscant, or the wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor.

Disney also changed the cockpit roles. Pilots get more responsive controls, gunners can use automatic or manual targeting, and engineers can operate a tractor beam, collect cargo, choose the planet destination, and call Grogu aboard the Razor Crest.

The Disneyland Park version of Smugglers Run received the same mission as the Walt Disney World ride.

How the Disney Parks Video Fits the Star Wars Push

The video arrives after a busy Star Wars stretch for Disney Parks. The May 22 rollout tied the ride mission to the film release, new Batuu food and merchandise, Star Tours updates, BDX droids at Disneyland Resort, and Disney Cruise Line Star Wars offerings.

The cockpit work is the practical change returning riders will notice first. Engineers now have the biggest shift, with destination choice and Grogu calls turning the back row into more than repair duty.
