Disney revealed new Monstropolis story details for the Monsters, Inc. land under construction at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

The land is built around H.U.M.A.N. Day, short for Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice. In the story, the city has formed a Department of Human Relations to welcome people into Monstropolis after laughter replaces screams as the city's power source.

Disney also named Harryhausen's and the Glob Theater as part of the city setting. Harryhausen's is the sushi restaurant from Monsters, Inc., which gives the land a nice bit of deep-cut texture beyond the already-announced door coaster.

Monstropolis Takes Shape at Hollywood Studios

Construction is already visible behind the walls at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Disney's new artwork frames the land as a working monster city, with storefronts, monster industry, and the Monstropolis Horn newspaper helping carry the in-world setup.

Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios are developing the land together. Disney has not announced an opening date for Monstropolis.

The Monsters, Inc. project replaces the former MuppetVision 3D area. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is also shifting to a Muppets theme, giving this side of the park two major Pixar-and-Muppets changes moving through construction at the same time.
