The Wetlands will be the outdoor recreation hub at Disney Lakeshore Lodge when the Walt Disney World resort opens in summer 2027.

The Bay Lake area sits just beyond the lobby and combines separate play areas, a lazy river, a zero-entry feature pool, and a quieter pool and spa with Magic Kingdom fireworks views.

Heron Shores brings climbing features to the dry play side. Otter Springs adds interactive water features for younger guests, while Daydream River gives the area its lazy-river piece.

The play areas draw from Pocahontas and "Colors of the Wind," including the lyric about the heron and the otter. The design includes cattail-style poles, animal-shaped structures, water jets, bridges, slides, and tubes moving through the recreation area.

Lakeside Lagoon and Perspective Pond

Lakeside Lagoon anchors The Wetlands with the main pool and spiral waterslide. Perspective Pond sits on the opposite side of the resort with a leisure pool and whirlpool spa.

A scenic path through the recreation area will include details about local flora and fauna, plus a plaque honoring the historic attraction that once stood there. Disney Lakeshore Lodge is projected to open with 967 rooms, including one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses along the waterfront.
