Cinderella Castle's refreshed paint scheme is complete at Magic Kingdom, giving the Walt Disney World landmark a cooler gray, cream, blue, and gold look after months of work in full guest view.

The project used more than 600 gallons of paint, seven boom lifts, and about three months of painting, according to Disney's June 18 project recap. Walt Disney Imagineering chose the palette to bring the castle closer to a classic 1971-inspired look.

The repaint replaced the pink-heavy 50th anniversary-era colors with deeper blue roofs, gray stonework, cream tones, and gold trim. Those colors had already started appearing in guest photos and on the My Disney Experience map before Disney marked the work complete.

The front-side work required the castle moat to be drained. Temporary dams went in, crews cleaned the moat, and boom lifts were lowered into place so painters could reach the walls, roofs, trim, and upper tower sections.

Disney kept the project visible during regular park days. Crews lowered and moved cranes out of sight by noon so guests could still photograph the castle from Main Street, U.S.A.

Cinderella Castle stands 180 feet tall at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. The repaint was coordinated by teams from Walt Disney Imagineering, Facility Asset Management, Disney Live Entertainment, Project Development, Operations, and Disney PhotoPass.

The completed look follows several smaller public clues this spring. CrowdLevels previously covered Disney's updated Cinderella Castle photos and the My Disney Experience map artwork that showed the cooler palette before Disney's full project recap.
