Disney has now confirmed that the traditional large gingerbread house at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will not be offered for the 2026 Walt Disney World holiday season, citing lobby flow for resort guests.

WDWMagic first reported Disney's new explanation Tuesday. Disney's 2026 holiday plan for Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa now calls for seasonal decor, festive offerings, and new miniature gingerbread displays throughout the resort.

The lobby-flow explanation adds a practical reason for a change that started circulating last week. Disney's 2026 holiday plan replaces the life-size lobby house with miniature Grand Floridian displays.

Miniature Displays Replace the Lobby House

The life-size house last appeared in 2024 and skipped the 2025 holiday season while the Grand Floridian lobby refurbishment continued. The June 24 CrowdLevels story covered the initial retirement reports and the resort's planned miniature replacement displays.

Disney has not shown the miniature displays yet. The new public language makes clear that they will be placed throughout the resort, rather than centered on the single walk-up gingerbread counter that guests knew before the refurbishment.

Grand Floridian Holiday Route

The old gingerbread house was both decor and a lobby stop. Guests used it for photos, treats, and a quick look during resort monorail holiday visits, especially on busy nights when Magic Kingdom-area hotel hopping gets crowded.

The 2024 house marked 25 sweet years for the display and included white chocolate candy canes, edible snowflakes, sugar poinsettias, and an 88-pound white chocolate Santa. It used more than 10,000 pieces of gingerbread, 1,050 pounds of honey, 800 pounds of flour, 600 pounds of confectioners' sugar, and 700 pounds of chocolate.

Grand Floridian should still be on the Walt Disney World holiday route in 2026, but the resort's gingerbread draw is shifting from one large lobby structure to smaller displays spread around the property.
