Attractions Magazine reported Friday that Knott's Berry Farm has invited media to preview MonteZOOMa: The Forbidden Fortress on July 20, with the public opening time expected to be announced that day.

The Fiesta Village coaster has been closed since 2022, when Montezooma's Revenge began its long conversion into MonteZOOMa: The Forbidden Fortress.

MonteZOOMa Preview Date

The July 20 preview does not give regular guests an exact first-ride time yet. It puts the finished ride on display for media, with public opening details expected on preview day.

Knott's has MonteZOOMa marked for a 2026 relaunch and describes the ride as a new storyline for the former Montezooma's Revenge, the classic shuttle coaster in Fiesta Village.

Montezooma's Revenge Closure

Montezooma's Revenge opened in 1978 and became known for its compact shuttle layout, vertical loop, and back-and-forth launch sequence. The new version keeps the MonteZOOMa name and Forbidden Fortress story, with Knott's previously tying the project to a treasure-hunt theme.

The attraction missed earlier reopening windows after Fiesta Village returned without the coaster. A July 20 preview would be the clearest sign yet that the project is finally close to opening.
