Adam Driver is the latest actor linked to Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot, with two entertainment scoopers reporting Monday that he will play Magneto.

MyTimeToShineHello reported that Driver had joined the movie as its villain. Apocalyptic Horseman followed 27 minutes later, saying he could independently corroborate the casting and naming Magneto as the role.

Marvel Studios has announced no cast for the reboot. Director Jake Schreier told Collider in June that casting conversations were underway, but most names circulating online were not coming from the movie's development room.

Other X-Men casting rumors

Knight Edge Media has linked Patrick Wilson to Professor X. Jeff Sneider's The InSneider first named Sadie Sink as the frontrunner for Jean Grey in December 2024. Sink is confirmed for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though Marvel and Sony have not revealed her character.

Sneider has also reported Julia Butters as a contender for Kitty Pryde, with Harris Dickinson considered for Cyclops. A later episode of The Hot Mic named Odessa A'zion for Rogue and Peter Claffey for Beast. Those actors were described as contenders, not completed deals.

MyTimeToShineHello has separately named Wagner Moura as Marvel's top choice for Mister Sinister. That claim predates the Driver report and leaves open whether the movie could feature more than one antagonist.

A Driver deal would give Marvel a new Magneto while Ian McKellen returns as the Fox-era version in Avengers: Doomsday, which opens Dec. 18. Marvel has not announced a title or release date for Schreier's X-Men movie.
