Kumba will take its final ride Aug. 2 at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay after 33 years.

The steel coaster opened in 1993 with seven inversions and a roar that could be heard across the park. It was Florida's tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster at the time, and its vertical loop was the tallest in the world.

Busch Gardens also announced Kumba's Revenge, a new attraction included in the park's $100 million investment. The park called it an extension of Kumba and has not announced an opening date.

Kumba's last day falls on a Sunday during Busch Gardens' Summer Nights season. The park has not announced special final-day operating plans.
