Six Flags Great Adventure Adds Bakunawa-Themed Fudge

The coaster-themed collection now includes a limited-edition fudge bar at Sweet Spot.

Six Flags Great Adventure added limited-edition Bakunawa-themed fudge at Sweet Spot on September 1. The park said the coaster-inspired treat is available while supplies last. It joins the black shirt, embroidered cap and insulated bottle already sold at Shoreline Trading Company and Main Street Market.

Bakunawa Reaches 382 Feet and 100 mph

Bakunawa will open in 2027 as a spinning launch coaster built around a 100-mph top speed.

The ride has 3,163 feet of track, three launches and a 180-degree maximum bank. The first launch will take riders from zero to 60 mph. A second launch accelerates from 60 to 80 mph while the train is inverted, followed by an 80-to-100-mph final launch.

The park is claiming six world records or firsts for the new ride:

Two trains will carry 20 passengers each. Every train has five coaches with four riders seated back to back. The floorless seats can spin freely while the train follows the purple track.

Project Purple becomes Bakunawa

The ride was previously known as Project Purple. Construction reached its highest installed track in late June, and Six Flags confirmed the 382-foot height July 17.

The theme follows a purple-scaled sea serpent that rises toward the moon. The layout turns that image into a coiling climb and an inverted launch before the train reaches the 382-foot spire.

Six Flags has not released an exact opening date. The 2027 season is the only opening window available for the coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey.
