Disney Cruise Line Japan plans to operate 2- to 4-night cruises from Tokyo International Cruise Terminal after service begins in fiscal 2028.
The image above shows the Disney Dream. The Japan vessel will be a separate ship based on the Disney Wish.
Oriental Land Company put the ship's budget at ¥290 billion, with another ¥40 billion set aside for contingencies. The figures appear in the company's July 30 first-quarter investor presentation.
A Wish-Based Ship for Japan
The Japan-registered ship is being designed from the Disney Wish platform with changes for the Japanese market. Oriental Land expects the vessel to measure about 140,000 gross tons, with roughly 1,250 staterooms, space for 4,000 passengers and a crew of about 1,500.
The ¥100,000 to ¥300,000 range is a planning estimate for one person in the most common stateroom type, not a published fare. Booking dates, final prices and complete itineraries have not been announced.
Year-Round Operations Follow in Fiscal 2029
Service is scheduled to start during fiscal 2028, followed by a full year of operations in fiscal 2029. Oriental Land expects the business to reach about 400,000 passengers and ¥100 billion in annual sales within its first several years.
The company is targeting an operating margin in the upper 20% range during that period. A second ship may be considered after the first vessel is operating successfully.
