France and Saudi Arabia have announced plans for three theme parks near Cergy-Pontoise, northwest of Paris, with €6 billion in planned investment and 22,000 expected jobs.
The announcement came during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s official visit to France. The Élysée Palace said the project would be developed with Saudi Arabia and described the scale as unprecedented in the area since Disneyland Paris.
Cergy-Pontoise Is the Announced Location
The planned destination would be built in the Cergy-Pontoise area, a group of communities in the Val-d’Oise department. EFE reported that the project is associated with the former Mirapolis site in Courdimanche, where a French theme park operated from 1987 to 1991.
The announced region is Cergy-Pontoise, but no detailed site plan, construction schedule or opening date has been published.
One Park Is Linked to Dragon Ball Z
Reuters reported that one of the three parks would be inspired by Dragon Ball Z, the Japanese manga and anime franchise built around martial-arts adventures, powerful heroes and the seven Dragon Balls. The other two park concepts have not been identified publicly.
Qiddiya is already developing a separate Dragon Ball theme park in Saudi Arabia. The French announcement concerns a new project near Paris, so the two developments should not be treated as the same park.
The Project Has No Opening Date
The Reuters report said Qiddiya would finance the French project and that key details, including the precise mix of the three parks, remained unsettled. Neither the Élysée announcement nor the current reporting sets an opening date.
For now, the material development is the government-backed announcement of the three-park plan, its location near Paris, its €6 billion investment figure and its stated employment target. Design details and construction milestones remain future steps.
