Chatsworth Superior Court Judge Michael O’Gara has set an August 16, 2027 trial in the Katerelos lawsuit against X2 manufacturer S&S Worldwide. Sheila Katerelos alleges that she suffered a traumatic brain injury after riding the coaster in 2020.
FOX 11 Los Angeles reported August 29 that the trial date was set in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The case alleges negligence, strict product liability, negligent product liability and loss of consortium.
August 16, 2027 Trial Date Set in Chatsworth
The case stems from Katerelos’s February 16, 2020 ride on X2. Magic Mountain LLC and Six Flags Theme Park Inc. were dismissed as defendants in May 2024. The Second District Court of Appeal reinstated S&S Worldwide as a defendant in February, sending the case back to the trial court.
The appellate ruling found triable issues about whether X2 caused or contributed to Katerelos’s injuries and whether S&S had shown that the ride was not defective as a matter of law. Those are issues for the case to resolve, not findings that establish liability.
X2 Remains Closed at Six Flags Magic Mountain
CrowdLevels recorded X2 as CLOSED at 12:47 a.m. PDT on August 30. Six Flags has not announced a reopening date on the attraction page.
The trial concerns Katerelos’s 2020 injury. It is separate from CNN’s August 27 reporting about Pamela Guillen and Naomi Greer-Wilkinson, two women hospitalized after July 2024 rides on X2.
