Disney+ has announced a global distribution deal with The Pokémon Company International that will bring Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu to Disney XD and Disney+ in 2027.
The stop-motion series comes from The Pokémon Company International and Aardman, the British studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. Disney+ has not announced a specific 2027 premiere date.
Pokémon Tales Follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu Through Galar
Sirfetch’d and Pichu will travel through the Galar region on a quest to help and protect Pokémon. Their missions will bring peril, alliances, rivalries, and other Pokémon into the story as the pair build a friendship.
The project was the subject of a Pokémon XP panel on August 28, where the creative team previewed the stop-motion production and Disney+ released the official teaser trailer.
Pokémon the Series: The Beginning Starts the Deal
The agreement also covers Pokémon the Series: The Beginning. The classic animated series follows Ash and Pikachu and is already airing on Disney XD, with episodes streaming on Disney+ in the United States and select international markets.
The new Aardman series will be the next major title in the arrangement. Disney+ has not announced an episode count, a more specific release date, or additional markets beyond the global deal.
