The live-action Gargoyles series developed for Disney+ is not moving forward, according to Variety's August 31 report. The project was still in early development.
The Disney+ series was developed with Gary Dauberman and James Wan
Gary Dauberman, who would have written and executive produced the series, was developing it with James Wan's Atomic Monster. Disney Branded Television was attached as the studio.
Variety attributed the current status to a source close to the project. The report follows an interview with original series co-creator Greg Weisman published by ComicsOnline, in which Weisman said the live-action side was “dead” and that he knew of no current live-action plans. Weisman was not directly involved with the proposed series.
The original animated Gargoyles series remains on Disney+
Disney+ continues to list the original animated series, which follows Goliath and his clan after they awaken from a thousand-year curse in modern New York. The service lists three seasons from 1994 to 1996.
This report concerns the proposed live-action adaptation. It does not announce a new animated project or change the availability of the original series on Disney+.
