The Odyssey has passed $1.677 billion worldwide, making it Universal Pictures’ highest-grossing film. It moves ahead of Jurassic World, the studio’s previous record holder.
Universal Pictures announced the milestone on September 12.
Nolan’s biggest film
The studio also called The Odyssey Christopher Nolan’s highest-grossing film, the highest-grossing R-rated film and the highest-grossing IMAX release. Those rankings use reported ticket sales and are not adjusted for inflation.
Universal projected that the worldwide total would reach $1.685 billion by the end of the weekend. That is a forecast; the $1.677 billion figure had already been reached when the announcement was published.
