A temporary checkout podium is now operating inside Celebrity 5&10 and the connected Darkroom shop at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The compact white-and-gold station has a scanner and tablet instead of a full fixed register. A Cast Member is currently using it to process purchases as a regular register.
Mobile Checkout Has Not Been Confirmed
The equipment resembles the designated podiums used for merchandise mobile checkout elsewhere at Walt Disney World. Disney's mobile checkout service lets guests scan merchandise in My Disney Experience, pay on their phones and show a QR confirmation code to a Cast Member before leaving.
Disney has not announced mobile checkout for Celebrity 5&10 or The Darkroom. Unless that changes, the new podium remains an extra staffed register rather than a confirmed mobile checkout station.
