Killceañera: Music by Slash spent eight years on the shelf before becoming one of Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood’s 2026 houses. HHN creative director John Murdy says the original concept dates to 2018 but was never produced for the event.
The version now open at Universal Studios Hollywood follows Lola, an orphan who survived the fire that killed her parents. For her 15th birthday, she invites the classmates who tormented her to a quinceañera inside the ruins of her childhood home. They become her “Court of Dishonor,” with 15 candles waiting for 15 victims.
Murdy wrote in Universal’s official feature that the success of the recent Monstruos trilogy gave the team a way to revive the idea. The 2026 house brings back El Cucuy, La Lechuza, Tlahuelpuchi, La Llorona, El Silbón and El Charro from Latin American folklore.
La Mala Hora is the newcomer: a black-clad spirit whose name translates as “The Evil Hour” or “The Evil One.” She appears at midnight as a harbinger of death.
