Marvel Comics powered by WEBTOON launches Nov. 16 with more than 35,000 digital comics on mobile and the web. It replaces Marvel Unlimited, which stops offering new content and comic reading on Dec. 7.
The new app includes current and classic comics from Marvel, Star Wars and 20th Century Studios. Readers can follow series, characters and creators, build a Pull List, browse upcoming releases and read traditional pages or vertical-scroll formats.
Two plans offer different release windows
The Base plan costs $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year, plus tax. New issues arrive as soon as three months after their print release.
The Ultimate plan costs $12.49 a month or $99.99 a year, plus tax. It shortens that wait to as soon as 30 days after print release. Both plans include the full digital library.
Marvel Unlimited has three December deadlines
Marvel stopped accepting new Marvel Unlimited sign-ups Oct. 5. Existing members keep free access until Dec. 7, when the app stops adding content and disables comic reading.
Library browsing remains available through Dec. 21 so members can check that their collections moved successfully. Marvel Unlimited will be removed and fully shut down Dec. 28.
Active subscriptions are eligible for automatic prorated refunds for the unused portion of their terms on or around Nov. 16. Refunds may take three to five business days to appear. Customers billed by Apple or Google should contact the applicable app store for help with those subscriptions.
Moving a library requires a WEBTOON account
Existing libraries, reading progress, redeemed comics and saved issues can transfer to the new app. Members should import their libraries before Dec. 7 so they can confirm the transfer while Marvel Unlimited still supports reading.
Payment information will not transfer. Readers who want subscription access in the new app must create a WEBTOON account and start a new subscription. Purchased and redeemed comics will remain available without a subscription, though a WEBTOON account is still required.
Marvel also retired its Annual Plus program Oct. 5. Active Annual Plus members will receive a final Phoenix Bundle.
