Disney published a new staff profile Friday of Gerardo “Jerry” Quijada Gonzalez, the Chef de Cuisine at Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. The feature traces his Disney career from an EPCOT college program to leading the restaurant’s kitchen.
Chef Jerry first worked at Walt Disney World more than two decades ago through the International College Program at the Mexico Pavilion. He later returned to Mexico, finished college and built a culinary career before moving with his family to Central Florida.
After dozens of applications, he joined Disney Culinary as a sous chef in 2016. Since then, he has worked at several Walt Disney World locations, helped open dining experiences and moved through the culinary leadership ranks.
At Be Our Guest, Chef Jerry regularly brings his team into recipe development. He asks cast members to contribute techniques, traditions and ideas from their own backgrounds.
