Disneyland Paris has completed a nearly six-month restoration of the bridge leading to Sleeping Beauty Castle, replacing its deck and adding a stone-and-brass compass rose. The bridge is set to reopen to guests. The park has not announced an exact reopening date or time.
The project rebuilt the structure beneath the decorative elements, along with the arches, corbels and spandrels. Crews also replaced the balustrade's wooden posts, rebuilt the limestone balusters and installed a new tropical-timber deck on the drawbridge.
New Granite Paving and Compass Rose
The old stamped-concrete deck has been replaced with 2,735 pieces of granite paving fitted to the bridge's curved shape. The new compass rose uses natural stone and brass inlays, with blue and red branches inspired by Merryweather and Flora and a green arc representing Fauna.
A brass medallion at the center depicts Aurora's crown surrounded by thorns. A fleur-de-lis points north, recalling the brass letters that marked the bridge's cardinal directions when Disneyland Park opened.

Restoration Marks the Castle's 35th Anniversary
The bridge announcement arrived on the 35th anniversary of Sleeping Beauty Castle's public unveiling on Oct. 12, 1991. Disneyland Paris said the finishing work includes new landscaping, paint and patina.
