Terry Matalas says VisionQuest began with one early conversation with Jac Schaeffer, who left the new show’s creative decisions to his team.
Matalas told TheWrap that he reached out because he admired WandaVision and wanted to thank Schaeffer before taking on the next chapter. He said she did not want to discuss the creative direction, giving his team what he called a “blank canvas.”
Schaeffer remains an executive producer on VisionQuest. Disney’s official press kit lists Matalas as the series creator and names both Matalas and Schaeffer among its executive producers.
The conversation offers a clear look at how the Marvel series changed hands. Matalas inherited characters tied closely to Schaeffer’s WandaVision, then built the new show without her steering its story.
