Hersheypark Reveals Four-Room Design for Reese’s Depot of Doom

The Dark Nights scare zone uses a 1980s abandonment story, a toy-train-inspired boxcar and hand-sprayed coded graffiti.

Reese’s Depot of Doom is built as four rooms in a straight sequence, giving the Hersheypark Dark Nights scare zone the feel of a compact haunted house.

The creative team placed the abandoned freight depot in the 1980s, drawing on Reese’s advertising from that decade. The boxcar at the entrance took its shape from a 1990s Hershey toy train.

Hand-sprayed graffiti adds another layer to the set. Codes and dates reference Hershey railroad history, Reese’s campaigns and milestones including Hersheypark’s May 30, 1906 opening.

The scare zone sits in The Boardwalk area, near Shoreline Sprayground. Guests move through the four rooms in one direction, with the exit at the end of the sequence.
