Encanto producer Yvett Merino says there have been no discussions about developing or greenlighting a sequel.
Merino gave the update in an interview with The Direct’s Russ Milheim published Thursday. Asked whether talks about Encanto 2 had taken place, she replied, “No, but I’m always here for it.”
Disney has not announced an Encanto sequel. Merino did not offer a production schedule or release window.
Merino produced the 2021 film, which follows Mirabel Madrigal and her family in their magical Colombian home. She told Milheim that the movie holds a special place in her heart and that she remains interested in projects set in its world.
