The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Watch for Orange and Osceola counties through Monday evening, keeping the Walt Disney World area inside the watch beyond its previous 3 p.m. expiration.

The current alert is coded through 7 p.m. EST Monday. Celebration, Orlando and Kissimmee are among the listed communities.

NWS Melbourne says 1 to 3 inches of rain are forecast widely, with localized totals of 5 to 7 inches or more possible. Heavy rain could flood poor-drainage areas and other low-lying locations.

This is a Flood Watch, meaning flooding is possible. It is not a Flood Warning for Walt Disney World. The bulletin does not announce any Disney park closure or say flooding is occurring at the resort.

Visitors should keep checking the alert because the watch can be changed or canceled before the current expiration. The bulletin advises people to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.
