Walt Disney Animation Studios is no longer planning to release Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 in quick succession, according to studio chief Jared Bush.
Bush discussed the change in an exclusive interview with Collider at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. He said the early idea was to put the films close together, but added, “That’s not what we’re doing, for a lot of reasons.”
One reason is the team’s goal for Frozen 3 to feel complete and fulfilling on its own. Bush said the filmmakers still need a rough sense of where a future story could go, but he does not want a rigid plan for Frozen 4 to limit changes that could improve the third film.
Frozen 4 still has no release date
Bush did not announce a release date or a specific gap between the films. Disney has set Frozen 3 for theaters Nov. 24, 2027.
