Cedar Point has confirmed that the seat belts currently installed on Millennium Force are shorter than they should be, turning several days of rider chatter into a real issue for one of the park's most famous coasters.
3News reported that Cedar Point spokesperson Tony Clark said Intamin, the coaster's manufacturer, directly supplied the belts and that the current set has been identified as shorter than manufacturer specifications. Clark also posted the same update on X on Saturday, May 16, saying the park is working with Intamin to replace the belts in the coming weeks.
Millennium Force is one of Cedar Point's signature headliners, a 310-foot Intamin giga coaster that opened in 2000.
The park has not given a specific replacement date. Clark said the replacement belts are expected in the coming weeks.
Until the replacement belts arrive, some riders may continue to find the coaster harder to fit than in past seasons, even while the ride remains open.
The confirmed facts are narrow: Cedar Point says the belts are shorter than spec, replacement belts are expected, and there is no firm public completion date yet.
