Disney Sports cast members are preparing the Stadium at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for Banana Ball games this weekend, with the Loco Beach Coconuts and Party Animals headed to Walt Disney World.
The Sportscape team maintains the 260-acre complex year-round. Its work covers more than 30 fields, including 17 multipurpose fields, 12 baseball and softball diamonds, a stadium, and a track and field complex.
John Bolger, a 36-year Disney cast member, has helped care for the fields since the complex hosted its first baseball game in 1997. Maryanne Baglos leads turf and horticulture work for the complex, which hosts nearly 300,000 athletes and 800,000 spectators across more than 50 events each year.
Banana Ball at ESPN Wide World of Sports
Banana Ball comes to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on May 29 and May 30. The Loco Beach Coconuts and Party Animals will play inside the Stadium, which seats more than 9,500 fans.
ESPN Wide World of Sports runs like a working sports campus. This weekend gives that crew a larger spotlight than a normal youth tournament weekend.
