Disney's Art of Animation Resort rooms will be refurbished starting in summer 2027, with the Walt Disney World hotel staying open while work moves through the resort in phases.
A Disney spokesperson told AllEars that the work applies to regular guest rooms and family suites. That covers the Little Mermaid standard rooms and the resort's Finding Nemo, Cars, and Lion King family-suite areas.
Disney Tourist Blog reported from a recent Walt Disney World media event that resort leadership discussed the project as part of Disney's wider hotel reinvestment work. Concept art was shown privately at the event, but Disney has not made a shareable version public.
Art of Animation Room Refurbishment Details
The Little Mermaid rooms appear to be getting the clearest functional change so far. WDW News Today reported that those rooms will receive pull-down Murphy beds, giving the room a second bed or a table depending on how guests use the space.
AllEars said previewed Little Mermaid room art kept the underwater theme, with seashell-style beds and chairs, Ariel and "Under the Sea" wall art, and bubble-style lamps on the nightstands.
Disney has not announced an end date for the refurbishment. The phased approach means guests may still book the resort while individual room areas are taken out of service and refreshed.
