A new permit for Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom names a structural and industrial construction firm before the attraction closes July 6.

WDWMagic reported the new Notice of Commencement on June 15. The filing lists Walt Disney Imagineering and Southeastern Construction & Maintenance, Inc., with a general construction scope.

Southeastern Construction & Maintenance describes its work as structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous steel, industrial maintenance, and construction. The permit does not confirm exactly what will change inside the rotating theater.

Carousel of Progress Construction Permit

Disney has already confirmed a major Carousel of Progress update. The attraction will close July 6, 2026, and reopen in 2027 with a new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure and four new show scenes.

The new show timeline starts with Walt Disney at the 1964 New York World's Fair, then moves the family through the 1960s moon landing, Halloween in 1985, New Year's Eve 1999, and a future scene with home robotics and space travel.

The contractor name gives the overhaul a heavier construction signal than a simple show-scene refresh. The confirmed work remains the July 6 closure, the new show scenes, and the 2027 reopening window.

CrowdLevels previously covered the July 6 closure and new show-scene plan after Disney outlined the project in May.
