Adobe and Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development announced a Firefly Foundry collaboration Tuesday for Disney Parks and Experiences design and pre-production work.
The custom models will use existing Imagineering assets and Adobe Firefly technology for early creative work, including sketch-to-image concept art, franchise-specific image generation, and 3D prototype workflows.
Kyle Laughlin, senior vice president of R&D Technology and Engineering at Walt Disney Imagineering, said the work is meant to help Imagineering bring Disney stories and characters into the parks faster while keeping the expected emotional quality.
Disney Imagineering Firefly Foundry Workflows
The first workflow turns rough hand-drawn concepts into rendered 2D concept art. A second model is being developed on Imagineering assets for franchises including Mickey & Friends, Frozen, Moana, Lilo & Stitch, and Cars.
The third workflow turns 2D renderings and design concepts into detailed 3D prototypes. Adobe described the 3D work as a way for designers to plan builds, estimate materials, and coordinate with engineering teams before construction.

Adobe also published a short video about the collaboration. Disney has not tied the toolset to a specific attraction, land, hotel, or cruise project.
