Six Flags Great America closed at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, as storms moved through the Gurnee, Illinois area.
The park posted the early close on its official park-hours page and homepage. The decision removed the evening stretch of a Wednesday summer operating day at the Chicago-area amusement park.
The National Weather Service placed Lake County, Illinois under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 p.m. CDT. The local hourly forecast called for showers and thunderstorms through the late afternoon and evening, with the highest rain chances around 5 and 6 p.m.
Guests with evening plans should check the Six Flags Great America app or official park-hours page before traveling. The park has not announced a broader schedule change for Thursday.
