Disney applied to build a 258-space backstage parking lot on 4.81 acres north of Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.

BlogMickey traced the July 13 application with the South Florida Water Management District. Plans show a new roadway and gate, a fenced gravel lot, 251 standard spaces, seven accessible spaces, two dry retention ponds and four drainage swales.

The filing modifies a 2013 authorization for the Typhoon Lagoon Laydown Area near 1199 East Buena Vista Drive. The roadway and lot would increase the site's impervious area from about 7,800 square feet to 97,500 square feet.

Disney has not announced who would use the new spaces or tied the work to a water park expansion. The application remains under review, and construction has not started.
