Two Cedar Point guests were arrested July 15 after they refused to exit Sky Ride, stopping the attraction while other riders remained suspended above the Midway in high-90s heat.

Sandusky Police were called around 7 p.m. after park security confronted a 77-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman from Philadelphia for eating aboard a gondola, according to an incident report obtained by the Akron Beacon Journal. Security told the pair they would be escorted from the park, but they remained seated when the gondola returned to the station.

Cedar Point shut down Sky Ride as security and officers removed the pair. Other guests waited in gondolas above the park's Main Midway during the stoppage.

Police charged both guests with criminal trespassing and persistent disorderly conduct. The woman also faces a charge of obstructing official business after allegedly giving officers a false name. The misdemeanor cases remain pending in Sandusky Municipal Court.
