Incredibles 3 will keep Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack at the familiar ages seen in the first two Pixar films, writer and executive producer Brad Bird said in an interview with The Direct.
Bird rejected a time jump because the Parr family's powers reflect different stages of family life. Dash's speed matches the restless energy of a 10-year-old, Violet's invisibility and force fields mirror a teenager's insecurity, and Jack-Jack's many unpredictable abilities represent the unknown potential of a baby.
The same idea shaped Bob and Helen Parr. Mr. Incredible carries the strength expected of a father, while Elastigirl stretches in many directions at once. Bird said aging the family would weaken those character archetypes.
Peter Sohn, who directed Elemental, is directing the third film. Bird remains its writer and executive producer. Disney has set Incredibles 3 for June 16, 2028.
The first Incredibles opened in 2004. Incredibles 2 arrived 14 years later but began seconds after the original film's final scene. Pixar has not announced the third movie's plot.
