A Heat Advisory covered Orange County from noon to 7 p.m. EDT Saturday, July 25, with heat index values up to 109 across the advisory area.

The National Weather Service Melbourne office issued the advisory late Friday for Orange, Volusia, Brevard, Lake and Seminole counties. Orange County includes Universal Orlando Resort and portions of Walt Disney World. Osceola County, which covers other parts of Walt Disney World, was not included.

Hot temperatures and high humidity raised the risk of heat illness. The safety guidance called for water, air-conditioned breaks, less time in direct sun and strenuous activity early or late in the day. Children and pets should never be left in unattended vehicles.
