Ryan Gosling will play Ghost Rider in a new Marvel Studios movie directed by Shawn Levy. The film opens in theaters July 28, 2028.

Marvel Studios followed the title reveal with video of Gosling appearing in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con.

Marvel did not identify which Ghost Rider Gosling will play. In the comics, the name has belonged to several characters. Johnny Blaze is a motorcycle stunt rider bound to the demon Zarathos, while Danny Ketch and Robbie Reyes have carried different versions of the Spirit of Vengeance.

Nicolas Cage played Johnny Blaze in two earlier Ghost Rider movies released by Sony. Gabriel Luna later played Robbie Reyes in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Ghost Rider Takes Disney's July 28 Date

Disney's updated theatrical calendar assigns Ghost Rider to July 28, 2028. The slot places it between Marvel's X-Men on May 5 and Black Panther 3 on December 15.

Levy previously directed Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine.
