Lucasfilm's description of the installation places a full-scale Han Solo in carbonite between two interactive stations. A visitor can activate a personalized carbon-freeze sequence while standing in the scene.
The setup draws from Han Solo's capture in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Darth Vader uses a carbon-freezing chamber to test whether Luke Skywalker could survive the process. Han is frozen first, then delivered to Jabba the Hutt.
Carbon Freeze Capture is part of Star Wars: The Experience, A Journey Through the Galaxy. The 18,000-square-foot exhibition opens at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia on February 13, 2027. Its collection will include more than 70 artifacts, a full-size speeder bike, Darth Vader's armor, Grogu, R2-D2 and C-3PO.
Other galleries include Queen Amidala's throne room and Wireframe Worlds, which centers on a wireframe TIE fighter and early vehicle designs. RFID technology will change some interactions based on a visitor's choices and Force allegiance.

The Philadelphia engagement runs through September 6, 2027. Member presales begin in October, followed by public ticket sales in November. A five-year North American tour is planned after the Philadelphia premiere.
