The Single Rider entrance sign has been removed at Expedition Everest, and the queue now opens for only a few minutes during many operating hours, according to a July 27 firsthand report from Disney's Animal Kingdom.
The entrance itself has not been removed. Cast Members can still send guests through it when space is available, but the report found the line closed for most of each hour.
A new loading process fills seats from the regular queue
Guests in the regular queue are now separated into even-numbered and odd-numbered groups before boarding. Expedition Everest seats two riders in each row, so Cast Members can form pairs from those groups without relying as often on a separate line to fill empty seats.
Walt Disney World has not announced that Single Rider is ending at Expedition Everest. The attraction still appears on Disney's official Single Rider list, and Disney did not respond to a request for comment included in the firsthand report.
Ask before choosing a queue
Guests should treat the Single Rider entrance as a limited option for now. Ask a Cast Member whether it is open before leaving the regular queue, and compare the posted standby wait rather than expecting Single Rider to save time.
Expedition Everest averaged 26.1 posted standby minutes across the 90 days ending July 21. The average fell below 20 minutes after 5 p.m., so the regular line was already the simpler choice late in the day on many operating days.
