Star Wars: Legacy is available Tuesday, July 28, in hardcover, ebook and audiobook editions. Madeleine Roux's new canon novel follows Rey and Leia Organa after the Battle of Crait.
The 416-page hardcover costs $30. Saskia Maarleveld narrates the 15-hour, 18-minute audiobook.
Rey and Leia return to Tython
The story takes place between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Luke Skywalker is gone, Rey's lightsaber is broken and Leia has started training Rey in the ways of the Force.
An entry in the ancient Jedi texts sends them to a temple on Tython. They hope to find a way to repair the Skywalker lightsaber, but the mission also draws them into a conflict involving refugees and a First Order officer.
Tython has deep ties to the Jedi in earlier Star Wars stories. The planet appeared in The Mandalorian when Grogu reached out through the Force, and it is also a central location in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
A new chapter before The Rise of Skywalker
The novel centers on the early stages of Rey and Leia's teacher-student relationship. It also explores Leia's limited Jedi training and the strain both characters carry after Crait.
This Star Wars: Legacy is separate from the earlier comic series of the same name, which takes place about 130 years after A New Hope.
