Disney Legend Glen Keane was rescued by helicopter Wednesday morning after exhaustion left him unable to hike down Mummy Mountain in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
Rescue crews were called around 8:30 a.m. and found the 72-year-old animator at the summit. A helicopter lifted Keane from the mountain. He was treated at the scene and did not need to go to a hospital.
Keane told ABC15 that he had spent his energy reaching the top and did not have enough left for the descent.
Five decades of Disney animation
Keane joined Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1974. His character work includes Ariel in The Little Mermaid, the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas and Tarzan. He later served as executive producer and animation supervisor on Tangled.
Disney named Keane a Disney Legend in 2013.
