Macaulay Culkin recently met with Disney executives and pitched an idea for a new Home Alone movie, according to entertainment reporter Matthew Belloni.
Belloni originated the report during the July 28 episode of The Town. He said Disney was actively courting Culkin and that people familiar with the pitch considered the idea strong. Belloni did not report a signed deal, approved screenplay or production order.
TMZ confirmed the meeting, then recorded Culkin's response
TMZ said it independently confirmed Belloni's report, including a meeting at Disney's Burbank studio. The outlet reported that Culkin discussed a modern-day Kevin McCallister project and that Disney executives responded favorably.
TMZ updated its story on July 29 after Culkin commented on one of its social posts. His response pushed back on the prospect of a comeback and said his favorite part of Home Alone is watching it with his children. TMZ maintained that Culkin had a conversation with Disney.
Culkin discussed one possible sequel premise at a 35th anniversary event in November 2025. In that version, an adult Kevin is a single father whose son locks him out and sets traps around the house. Neither Belloni nor TMZ established that the Disney pitch used that exact story.
Disney and 20th Century Studios have not announced a new Home Alone movie, Culkin's involvement, a director, a release date or a production start. The report remains an early development story.
