Canada's Wonderland recorded its billionth ride Thursday when Annabelle S. of Kingston, Ontario, boarded Thunder Run, according to on-site reporting by Attractions Magazine.
Park President Christopher Mortensen and Snoopy surprised Annabelle and her family after the ride. They received park merchandise, return tickets and Fast Lane Plus vouchers.
The park-wide milestone landed on one of Canada's Wonderland's oldest attractions. Thunder Run is a powered coaster that circles through Wonder Mountain twice during each ride.
Thunder Run has moved once in its 45-year history
The coaster opened with the park in 1981 as Blauer Enzian. Canada's Wonderland relocated it into Wonder Mountain in 1986 and renamed it Thunder Run.
Its antique-train cars use electric motors instead of a traditional chain lift. Riders must be at least 46 inches tall to ride alone, or 40 inches tall with a supervising companion.
The winding trip through the dark interior of Wonder Mountain has made the compact coaster a familiar stop for generations of families. On Thursday, that old train carried a very round number.
