Hasbro has listed a Marvel Legends Maximum Series Symbiote Spider-Man figure for $49.99. The six-inch figure is available through Hasbro Pulse under product number G24005L00.
The set includes 17 accessories: alternate masked and unmasked heads, alternate hands, several web lines, a symbiote container and display pieces. The figure uses a black costume with the large white spider emblem and extra articulation intended for wider posing.
The comic behind the black suit
Secret Wars #8 introduced Spider-Man's black costume in 1984. Peter Parker found what appeared to be a replacement suit on Battleworld after his familiar red-and-blue costume was damaged.
The suit was later revealed to be a living alien symbiote. After Peter rejected it, the symbiote eventually bonded with Eddie Brock and became Venom. That comic history explains the figure's black costume and symbiote container; it does not announce a new movie or television storyline.
